Cotton Candy sells for for a minimum of $.75 on a paper cone and up to $2 when in a poly bag. Food Cost comes in around 6 cents (using Gold Medal Flossugar ready to use mix) for a typical 1 ounce serving (normally sold for $1). For a better looking, more generous serving you can put 1.5 ounces in a bag and get up to $2. Of course, retail all depends on your location.
There are many different types of cotton candy machines. For a parlor, you would be best off with a lower volume machine such as the Econo Floss or the Mega Floss. For high output (mall carts selling only cotton candy or at a fair for example) you would probably want to go with a more expensive model like the Twin Wind Two Color Floss Machine. Depending on which machine you choose, you will be paying between $695 and $1800, plus the cost of the Floss Bubble (around $175).
